Unity In Diversity

What’s the colour of your skin?

Is it black, white, yellow or brown?

Physically, it sets us all apart

So wear your identity like a crown!

From which country to you come?

From the north, south, east or west?

You represent your land’s uniqueness

So epitomize what makes it best!

Your culture, your traditions, your family

Your colour, your home, your beauty

Wear your individuality as a badge

Glorify it, as is your duty!

Unity in Diversity. It’s what

Makes our hearts come closer

Spread brotherhood through the world

Find intimacy within exposure.

Without fragmentation, we are diverse

Without uniformity, we are united

Celebrate your difference my sisters

Forget the need to hide it!

Foul racism and inequality

Is going to tear the bond apart

Now or never- we must begin

To make amends we should start.

God blessed us all with this treasure

How thoughtful is the Almighty

We are different- exceptional

Only to shine ever more brightly.

Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is a special festival in India. It is a day where a sister ties a band known as a rakhi on her brother wrist as an act of love and care. Happy Raksha Bandhan my friends!

image

Oh brother, on this special day

This rakhi that I give to you

carries the deepest meanings

From my heart and true.

We fight almost everyday

Like a Tom and Jerry show

A matter of death and survival

Dodging every shout and blow.

But dada, if that didn’t happen

We wouldn’t be quite as close

The love that I want to give

I hope this little rakhi shows.

So brother, put out your hand

And I will tie this bond of utmost care

Cheers to a happy loving life

And a few more squabbles to share.

Indian classical Dances

Hello all! We have another school presentation coming up (it’s an assembly) and the topic is Indian Classical Dances. So, I have written a little poem on it. I hope that you will know more about this beautiful art after reading this than you did before. Here goes…

Indian classical Dances

India, such a diverse land
And so vibrant and great
And one clear example is
A dance from each Indian state
You know,Kathak comes from
The parts of Northern India
And from Manipur comes
Manipuri and Thang Ta.
From the state of Kerala
Comes the dance kathakali
Bharatnatyam from Tamil Nadu
And from Odisha, Odissi.
West Bengal’s Chhau Dance
And Gujarat’s lovely Garba
Such a lot of skilful arts
From the culture of India.
We to these dances should
Show respect and care
Now, citizens of India
Of dances we are aware.
